laser-surgery-ezlaseWhat looks like a Samsung mp3 player is actually a dental laser system from Biolase Technology that wants to stand out. With this innovation, We have the benefit of working without packing cord or using astringents, the ease with which we will be taking impressions, and the simple pleasure of all the ezlase's features. The ezlase™ is designed to deliver the best clinical characteristics of existing diode lasers in one state-of-the-art system.

Ezlase allows to perform most periodontal procedures, pulpotomy, pulpectomy and biopsies due to its unique ComfortPulse™ settings deliver short, high-power cutting pulses with longer intervals for tissue thermal relaxation, which can provide both efficient cutting and greater patient comfort with less anesthetic.

Picasso Diode Dental laser:

laser-surgery-picassoThe compact, portable Picasso soft tissue diode laser delivers clinical results and ease of use with the portable design. Its 810nm wavelength provides clean cutting and hemostasis in a wide range of soft tissue procedures It is known for precision cuts with gum tissue, eliminating bleeding at the site and reducing healing time.

Picasso also can be used to help sterilize canals in endodontics, treat periodontal disease, and aid in tooth whitening. Gingival troughing with the Picasso around our preparation also eliminates the need for retraction cord.

laser-surgery-diode2GENTLEray 980 Classic - Soft Tissue Diode Laser from KAVO:

This portable diode laser can be used for a wide range of surgical, antibacterial and bleaching procedures. The GENTLEray 980 delivers quality treatment with less side- effects (bleeding, swelling, suturing) and makes procedures easier to perform with increased patient comfort.

Kavo Diagnodent Pen Laser Caries Detector:

With the KaVo DIAGNOdent pen, even hidden caries can be detected quickly, easily and reliably - wherever they are. The DIAGNOdent pen is the perfect tool to completely detect proximal caries, fissure caries, and smooth surface caries.
laser-surgery-penDIAGNOdent pen works on the basis of the differing fluorescence between healthy and diseased tooth substance. This allows us to detect even the smallest of lesions, quickly and painlessly without X-rays or exposure to radiation, and in a way that is more reliable than any other method. It also helps preserve healthy tooth substance since there is no probing, no scraping and no damage.

Laser surgery eliminates many of the common complaints of traditional surgery. A laser device replaces the rotary tool and can be used for everything from tooth bleaching to surgery. Laser treatment is very gentle and quiet and heals with very little post-operative discomfort or bleeding, and may be very beneficial in many situations. The only addition to the procedure is the requirement of protective glasses to shield the eyes from the laser beam. A laser doesn't make any noise and doesn't require physical contact with your teeth. Water isn't usually needed but air suction is used to keep the treat.

Benefits of laser surgery:

ferrari-waterlase-dentistry-7There are many benefits of laser surgery including:

  1. Faster healing.
  2. Reduced risk of infection: because the high-energy beam sterilizes the area being worked on.
  3. Decreased Sensitivity.
  4. Less time in the dental chair.
  5. Less bleeding: because the high-energy light beam aids in the clotting (coagulation) of exposed blood vessels, thus inhibiting blood loss.
  6. Less post-treatment discomfort.
  7. Procedures performed using soft tissue dental lasers may not require sutures (stitches).
  8. Certain laser procedures do not require anesthesia.
  9. Damage to surrounding tissue is minimized.
  • If you are on anticoagulant or take aspirin every day and your MD does not want you to stop them, then laser treatment is beneficial because of the reduced chance of bleeding during treatment.
  • If you have high blood pressure and the use of Epinephrine is contraindicated, then laser treatment is for you.
  • If you are allergic or hypersensitive to Epinephrine, causing rapid heart beat whenever you get Novocaine, then the use of laser treatments beneficial, since Epinephrine is not necessary to be used.

Other Laser Dentistry Applications

  • Viewing Tooth and Gum Tissues: Optical Coherence Tomography is a safer way to see inside tooth and gums in real time.
  • Nerve Regeneration: Photobiomodulation can be used to regenerate damaged nerves, blood vessels and scars.
  • Sleep Apnea: In cases where sleep apnea is a result of a tissue overgrowth in areas of the throat (which sometimes occurs with age), a laser assisted uvuloplasty or laser assisted uvula palatoplasty (LAUP) procedure can be performed to reshape the throat and relieve the correlating breathing problems associated with sleep apnea.
  • Temporomandibular Joint Treatment: Dental lasers may be used to quickly reduce pain and inflammation of the temporomandibular jaw joint.

laser-surgery-what-isWhat is a Laser?

A laser is a high tech devise that generates a tiny beam of very concentrated light . This beam of light brings energy into your mouth through a tiny fiber, to help remove areas of infection and remove gum disease around the teeth with great precision and accuracy.

Are Lasers New to Dentistry?

Shortly after the invention of lasers in the early 1960's, lasers were investigated for their use in gum treatment. Recent developments have made it possible to use lasers effectively in the dental office, for treatment of all soft tissues, including gums. Soon lasers will be used routinely for work on teeth and cavities also.

Are Lasers Dangerous?

In the hands of a skilled specially trained dentists like members of our team at Ferrari Dental Clinics, lasers are very safe. In fact the primary safety factor used during laser treatment is proper protective eyewear. Dental lasers are very low powered, which is essential for treating the delicate tissues of the mouth. In addition, the controlled heat and light of the laser destroys many bacteria and viruses in the mouth and inside periodontal pockets.
